Welcome to Paras Indonesia!

Paras Indonesia is a reincarnation of the politics and economics site Laksamana.Net. While the former site focused mainly on news, Paras Indonesia delivers much more than just straight reporting to explain the dynamics and intricacies of Indonesia. Using the web log format, Paras Indonesia is open for comments, debate and discussion in order to paint a more colorful picture of Indonesia. In doing so, Paras Indonesia will also provide insightful analysis from a wide range of columnists.

A big change from the old site is that we will feature content in both English and Indonesian. Likewise, comments can be in either language.

Our Features

The Blogs - The main portion of the website is the blogs, where our columnists and editorial team provide their opinions and analysis of the current issues involving Indonesia. We would also like to hear your opinions and views on these issues.

Columns - Like Laksamana.Net site, we provide coverage of politics, business and the economy, law, the press, society and culture, and foreign affairs.

Focus - Certain reports require special focus and regular updates, so we are grouping selected key issues, therefore making them more reader friendly and easier to find.

Off the Blog - Reading through the stacks of newspapers and reports that flow into our office everyday, we dig out the important information and provide you with concise rundowns of what’s happening in Indonesia.

Polling - Paras Indonesia leaves it to you to judge the issues of Indonesia, so please lodge your vote.

Off the Shelf
- The staff of Paras Indonesia are not merely desk-bound geeks. We also like to read offline and here present some of our thoughts on selected books.

Newsletter - At the end of each week, we summarize the key events of the past seven days and provide a prelude to our highlights for the following week. Sign up

"We don't believe it's appropriate for the Australian Federal Police to pass intelligence to the Indonesians or any other government or any other police force where it could result in Australians or the nationals of those countries or any other countries suffering the death penalty."
